Amira Adawe Provides COVID-19 Education Clinics
University of Minnesota trainer Amira Adawe reported that she provided COVID-19 education with a focus on how to protect and prepare family members at two September COVID-19 testing clinics held at the Brian Coyle Community Center in Minneapolis for East African residents. Her non-profit The Beautywell Project helped to sponsor the clinics, which provided free COVID-19 testing to over 215 residents in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood, home to the largest East African population in Minnesota. Ms. Adawe noted that the goal of these weekend clinics was to reassure residents that testing is safe and necessary to prevent community spread among vulnerable populations. The turnout exceeded expectations.
